    Interesting Facts:

Oslo has been the capital since 1814, when Norway gained its independence from Denmark.  Originally named Christiana, the name was changed to Oslo in 1925. 

There are 40 islands in and around the city limits.  There are also 343 lakes.  The largest is Maridalsvannet which is the main source of drinking water.

Oslo has a strong economy and is the world's 10th most expensive place to live.

The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded in Oslo City Hall each year on December 10.
